LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--
Colombian recording artist and multiple Grammy(R) winner Carlos Vives lent his support to the Herbalife Family Foundation for a record-setting fundraising event in Caracas, Venezuela, to raise money for a local charity.
A photo opportunity following Vives' performance got the highest bids in a charity auction, when the internationally renowned singer and songwriter joined 12,000 Herbalife independent distributors during the company's Extravaganza Latina event in Caracas.
The auction raised $250,000 to further fund a Casa Herbalife program at Jardin de Infancia Luisa Caceres de Arismendi in the Baruta district of Caracas, to continue to provide nutrition programs for at-risk children in Venezuela. The program was established in May 2007.
The initial grant from HFF provided funds for the organization to upgrade its kitchen with industrial appliances including an oven, refrigerator and other necessities. Currently, the organization offers integrated support to 180 boys and girls whose ages range from three to six years from nearby neighborhoods and from homes with single, low income, working mothers.
The Casa Herbalife program was launched in 2005 to help provide healthy and nutritious meals by partnering with existing charities serving children.
HFF is a 501(c)(3), non-profit corporation dedicated to improving children's lives by helping organizations provide healthy nutrition to children at risk. Additionally, HFF often supports relief efforts in response to natural disasters.
