Herbalife supporters gather in Grand Park
LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- More than 4,000 Southern California residents—Herbalife members and other supporters—are gathering at Grand Park today in front of Los Angeles City Hall to tell local legislators about their experiences with Los Angeles-based Herbalife (NYSE: HLF), and show their support for the global nutrition company.
The rally comes as Herbalife members from across Southern California—from San Diego to San Bernardino—visit Los Angeles City Hall to meet with key Los Angeles City Hall leaders and share how Herbalife is helping them lead healthier, more active lives, and offering those who are interested an opportunity to earn full-time or supplemental income selling the company’s nutrition products.
“Herbalife has provided me the opportunity to achieve the healthy, active lifestyle I’ve always dreamed of,” said Aubrey Clarke, a Los Angeles-based member. “I am excited about the opportunity to go to my home town City Hall to tell my legislators just how important Herbalife has been to helping me achieve my personal fitness and financial goals.”
Several civic leaders familiar with the company spoke with the group in Grand Park. Carol Schatz, president and CEO of the Central City Association, said, “Herbalife has played an important role in the economic vitality of Los Angeles. They participate as an excellent corporate citizen, helping to make Los Angeles a great place to live and work.”
Executive Director of A Place Called Home Jonathan Zeichner said, “The Herbalife Family Foundation has been a major supporter of A Place Called Home since 2005 and has helped us respond to food insecurity in South Central Los Angeles by providing daily healthy meals and ongoing nutrition education for young people and families.“ He added, “We value our long-term relationship with HFF, and appreciate the resources and the tremendous volunteer support we receive from Herbalife members and employees.”
Herbalife has a strong presence and makes a significant economic contribution in California. It currently has six manufacturing and distribution facilities, and there are 1,500 employees and more than 120,000 members residing in the state. It also paid $28 million in California sales tax in 2014. Herbalife was founded in Los Angeles in 1980, with headquarters at L.A. Live since the complex opened in 2008.
