Dr. John Agwunobi

John Agwunobi is CEO and Chairman of the Board of Herbalife Nutrition, a premier global nutrition company that serves customers in 94 countries. Agwunobi is a passionate proponent of Herbalife Nutrition’s mission to improve the nutrition habits of people worldwide, strengthening our communities and providing independent distributors a business opportunity to earn supplemental income. As chief executive officer, he sets the strategy for Herbalife Nutrition, overseeing all aspects of the Company’s growth and ensuring that the Company continues to be recognized worldwide as a leading nutrition company, with a keen focus on initiatives that can positively impact issues affecting global society, including overweight and obesity, healthy aging, and a business opportunity.

Agwunobi previously served as co-president and chief health and nutrition officer, directing the Company’s sales and marketing functions and its nutrition philosophy. Since joining the Company in 2016, Agwunobi has worked closely with Herbalife Nutrition independent distributors and customers, ensuring that the Company continuously innovates in the areas of product development, technology, marketing and distributor sales. He also led the Herbalife Nutrition Institute, the Herbalife Nutrition Advisory Board, and the Herbalife Dietetic Advisory Board, and worked with the Company’s Ph.D.s and scientists to integrate nutrition science into Herbalife Nutrition products.

Agwunobi brings a wealth of experience from both the public and private sectors to his role. Most notably, in the private sector, he served as senior vice president and president of health and wellness for the world’s largest retailer, Walmart, where he led a team of over 65,000 and grew the business from $25 billion to over $30 billion. In the public sector, Agwunobi served as Florida’s Secretary of Health and later as Admiral, U.S. Public Health Services Commissioned Corps and the Assistant Secretary of Health for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. In these roles, he was responsible for disease prevention and health promotion. He oversaw the Centers for Disease Control, National Institutes of Health, the Food and Drug Administration, the office of the U.S. Surgeon General, and numerous other public health offices and programs.

Agwunobi has a broad educational background that includes a master's in public health from Johns Hopkins University and a master's in business administration from Georgetown University. He completed his pediatric residency at Howard University and is currently a licensed physician in Florida. He serves on numerous boards including the U.S. African Development Foundation and Bluebird Bio.

Dr. Richard H. Carmona

Dr. Richard H. Carmona

Dr. Richard Carmona serves as Chief Executive Officer of the Canyon Ranch Health division and president of the nonprofit Canyon Ranch Institute. Additionally, since 2006 he has served as vice chairman of Canyon Ranch, a life-enhancement company.

Dr. Carmona is the first distinguished professor of Public Health at the Mel and Enid Zuckerman College of Public Health at the University of Arizona.

Prior to joining Canyon Ranch, Dr. Carmona served as the 17th Surgeon General of the United States from August 2002 through July 2006. Previously, he was Chairman of the State of Arizona Southern Regional Emergency Medical System; a professor of surgery, public health, and family and community medicine at the University of Arizona; and surgeon and deputy sheriff of the Pima County, Arizona, Sheriff’s Department. His leadership in public office, private industry and academia uniquely position him to help guide Herbalife Nutrition in providing healthy nutrition choices to people around the world.

Dr. Carmona served in the U.S. Army and the Army’s Special Forces. He also serves as a director of Axon Enterprise Inc., McKesson Corporation, and the Clorox Company.

Kevin M. Jones

Kevin M. Jones

Kevin Jones is an accomplished business leader with 30 years of technology services experience and a track record in leading business transformations. He is currently the CEO of Rackspace Technology, an industry leader in multi-cloud solutions across applications, data, security and infrastructure on the world’s leading cloud platforms.

Prior to Rackspace Technology, Mr. Jones was the CEO of MV Transportation, the largest privately owned transportation contracting firm in the U.S. As a testament to Mr. Jones’ leadership skills, during his tenure as CEO, MV Transportation achieved the highest revenue-and second highest profit performance in the company’s 44-year history.

Before joining MV, Mr. Jones held global leadership roles at DXC Technology, Hewlett Packard Enterprise, Dell, Hewlett Packard and Electronic Data Systems, with a focus on strengthening customer relationships throughout his career.

Sophie L’Hélias is an experienced and accomplished international business, corporate governance and ESG expert with deep knowledge of financial markets, ESG, corporate governance and investor sentiment. She is President of LeaderXXchange, a trusted advisory firm that develops value creating solutions through the integration of sustainability and diversity in strategy, leadership and investment.

Ms. L’Hélias is also the lead independent director of Kering, a global luxury group, and serves as non-executive director on the Board of Africa50, a development impact fund dedicated to improving infrastructure in Africa, Agence France-Locale, a community lending financial institution, and Echiquier Positive Impact and Climate Impact Europe funds. She is a Fellow at The Conference Board ESG Center in New York and serves on the Advisory Board of the Hawkamah Governance Institute in Dubai.

Ms. L’Hélias is the recipient of the 2019 International Corporate Governance Network Lifetime Achievement Award in Corporate Governance; the 2019 New York Women in Asset Management Award – ESG; the 2018 Global Proxy Watch GPW 10 Award that designates the ten most salutary corporate governance influences in the world each year and was featured in Forbes 40 French Women Leaders list in 2019.

Alan W.  LeFevre

Alan W. LeFevre

Alan LeFevre is the former executive vice president of finance and chief financial officer for Jarden Corporation, a leading provider of consumer products with a portfolio of over 120 brands sold globally. As a member of the Board of Directors, Mr. LeFevre lends significant financial experience to helping Herbalife Nutrition deliver on its purpose of making the world healthier and happier.

Prior to becoming CFO, from 1997 to 2014 Mr. LeFevre served multiple roles at Jarden’s subsidiary, Jarden Consumer Solutions, formerly the Sunbeam Corporation. In his position as executive vice president of operations and chief financial officer, he oversaw the accounting and finance, supply chain, manufacturing, sourcing, engineering and information technology groups for Jarden Consumer Solutions.

Mr. LeFevre started his career at Arthur Andersen & Co. as a certified public accountant in 1982.

Mr. LeFevre graduated with distinction from Valparaiso University, with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration.

Juan Miguel Mendoza

Juan Miguel Mendoza

Juan Miguel Mendoza is an independent Herbalife Nutrition distributor with more than 25 years of experience helping people live healthy active lifestyles through personalized nutrition and coaching. Mr. Mendoza is also a member of the Company’s Chairman’s Club, an achievement he has held since 2013.

Mr. Mendoza regularly tours the world, training independent Herbalife Nutrition distributors about the business, the products, and the importance of our distributor difference. He is an integral member of various strategy and planning groups for the Company.

As a member of the Board of Directors, Mr. Mendoza brings a first-hand understanding of the function and specific needs of the Company’s independent distributors, the ultimate drivers of Herbalife Nutrition’s business, to the Board. His tenure as an independent distributor also provides valuable insight into the Company’s growth and development over a 25-year period.

Mr. Mendoza and his wife, Andrea, use Herbalife Nutrition products, in conjunction with their regular nutrition and workout plan. They conduct business in more than ten countries and work together from home, where they can spend quality time with their family.

Donal L. Mulligan

Donal L. Mulligan

Don Mulligan is a seasoned business builder with extensive experience as a Fortune 200 company CFO and public company director. He has worked extensively in Asia and Latin America and has cultivated strong relationships with institutional investors and the analyst community.

In addition to financial expertise and shareholder insights, Mr. Mulligan brings a strong track record of global expansion, talent development, capital structure evolution, risk management, business restructuring, investment oversight, M&A and corporate social responsibility.

Mr. Mulligan was most recently Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer for General Mills. He joined General Mills in 2001 and has held various senior management positions including Vice President Financial Operations for the International division; Vice President Financial Operations for Operations and Technology and Vice President and Treasurer.

Prior to joining General Mills, Mr. Mulligan gained extensive experience in financial management, operations and international administration in various positions with Pillsbury, PepsiCo and YUM! Brands.

He is presently a Director of the Tennant Company, a leader in the cleaning technology and machinery industry.

Maria Otero

Maria Otero

Ms. Maria Otero currently serves on the board of directors of Development Alternatives Inc., a global development company. Ms. Otero’s expansive career focused on empowering those less fortunate around the world, leadership roles, extensive public service and microfinance experience help Herbalife Nutrition deliver on its mission to help people live healthy active lifestyles.

In 2009, she was nominated by President Obama and confirmed by the US Senate to serve as Undersecretary of State for Democracy and Global Affairs. In 2012, Secretary Clinton named Maria Otero as Undersecretary for Civilian Security, Democracy, and Human Rights, a newly created office and position at the State Department, where she served until 2013. During her time at the Department of State, Undersecretary Otero also served as the President’s Special Coordinator for Tibetan Issues. She became the highest-ranking Hispanic official at the State Department and the first Latina undersecretary in its history. She was appointed by President Clinton to chair the board of the Inter-American Foundation and by President Bush to serve as vice-chair on the board of the US Institute of Peace. In 2006, she was appointed by Secretary General Kofi Annan to the U.N. Advisors Group on Inclusive Financial Sectors. She also chaired the board of Bread for the World and served on the boards of the Calvert Foundation and BRAC in Bangladesh.

From 2000 to 2009 Ms. Otero served as President and CEO of Accion International, a global microfinance organization operating in 26 countries. In that capacity, she chaired the board of Accion Investments, a global equity investment fund and represented Accion on the board of several microfinance banks. Ms. Otero also worked as an economist for Latin America and the Caribbean in the Women in Development Office of USAID. She is a member of the Council of Foreign Relations.

Ms. Otero holds an M.A. in literature from the University of Maryland; an M.A. in International Relations from the Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS), at the Johns Hopkins University; and holds an honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters.

John Tartol

John Tartol

Mr. John Tartol is an independent Herbalife Nutrition distributor with more than 35 years of experience with the Company. He is a member of the Company’s Chairman’s Club since 2000.

His experience training other independent Herbalife Nutrition distributors all over the world and serving on various strategy and planning groups lends itself to helping Herbalife Nutrition deliver on its mission to help people live healthy active lifestyles.

He is also active on behalf of various charities in his community and worldwide on behalf of the Herbalife Nutrition Foundation. He holds a bachelor’s degree in finance from the University of Illinois.
