Herbalife Family Foundation Funds Nutrition Programs in Belgium, Malaysia and Paraguay
LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--
The Herbalife Family Foundation granted funds to children's charities in
Belgium, Malaysia and Paraguay to provide children with better nutrition.
Through HFF's Casa Herbalife program, the Pedagogisch Centrum Wagenschot
in Belgium will receive funds for a long-term project to train young
people for a career in catering - helping them learn how to cook, work
with food and understand general nutrition principles. Founded in 1988,
the center works to teach new skills and create opportunities for these
young people with emotional and behavioral problems as they are
integrated back into society. This becomes the 24th Casa
Herbalife program in Herbalife's Europe, Middle East and Africa region.
Malaysia's Good Samaritan Home in Klang, Selangor serves over 70
children, who were abandoned or from homes where their parents can't
take care of them. A kitchen renovation will begin shortly, supported in
part by the grant. This is the second Casa Herbalife program established
in Malaysia.
In the capital city of Asuncion, Fundación Cooperadora para la Nutrición
Infantil (Cooperative for Children's Nutrition) combats children's
malnutrition in a highly impoverished area of Paraguay. The initial
grant will help to provide support for the organization's food budget
and cooking classes for mothers of malnourished children. This
organization serves the entire community teaching mothers to take better
care of their young children and provides necessary resources (food,
supplements, clean drinking water) to the children and families served.
In 2011, Herbalife Family Foundation established Casa Herbalife programs
at nine organizations, for a total of 71 programs established since the
program's inception in 2005. After the initial grants made by HFF, the
organizations receive local financial and volunteer support from
Herbalife Independent Distributors and corporate employees.
HFF is a 501 C(3), non-profit corporation dedicated to improving
children's lives by helping organizations provide healthy nutrition to
children at risk. Additionally, HFF often supports relief efforts in
response to natural disasters.
